How do I stop the Rapid Resizer from quitting when scanning or from squishing, distorting or squeezing the image from my scanner?

In the choice you get when you hit the Rapid Resizer's Scan button, choose No. If that doesn't help, choose Select Scanner from the Rapid Resizer's File menu and try any alternatives. If that fails too, you can resort to scanning from another program, such as Paint (which comes with Windows), choose Copy from the scanning program's Edit menu, then paste into the Rapid Resizer.

If the Rapid Resizer is dying when you try to scan, make sure you can scan from other programs.
